Practices of Comparatism in Inter-Imperial Contexts

28–30 May 2025, Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca

Organized within the GLORC project, this workshop focused on the forms and uses of comparatism in inter-imperial settings. The event combined invited lectures by Ananya Jahanara Kabir and Mihaela Ursa with two editorial launches: the special issue of Transilvania, Acta Comparationis Litterarum Universarum: An Alternative Genealogy of World Comparatism, and Anca Parvulescu’s volume Face and Form: Physiognomy in Literary Modernism. Together, these sessions connected the project’s archival and theoretical work to wider debates on creolisation, postcolonial afterlives, and Romanian comparative literature.
