Elsewheres of Comparison: World-Literary Histories across Borders (5-7 November 2025)

5–7 November 2025, Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca

This workshop examined alternative geographies and histories of comparison within world literature, focusing on inter-imperial and transnational literary formations. The program brought together invited lectures by Uhuru Phalafala (Stellenbosch University) and Adriana Stan (Babeș-Bolyai University) with panels featuring members of the GLORC research team. Topics ranged from Black ecological thought and global modernism to Orientalism, postcolonial perspectives on Romanian literature, and comparative approaches to multilingual literary cultures in East-Central Europe.
